​​Transducer failures in a production environment and even in an anechoic environment are hard to detect with 100% reliability. Most common transducer failures can be classified as rub and buzz. Targeted transducers are mainly loudspeakers but could also be headphones.
Although rub and buzz failures are very audible, they are hard to detect with a classic THD+N measurement. Some audio measurement equipment manufacturers are offering a rub and buzz option, but this kind of equipment is quite expensive. A rub and buzz exist in different flavors and is also not standardized, making it hard to choose one.

Subject of this internship or ”student job” for a master level could be:
– Do some research on this topic and summarize what exists.
– Practical :
– In the lab there is an APx515 with the ”rub a buzz” option which can be used to do actual measurements in a production environment.
– PC-processing experiments (Python implementation).
– Try to develop an algorithm which is fast and low resource demanding that can be used in a production environment which also has a decent reliability.

Because this is a short-term project, it is not suited for a longer period. Maximum duration should be 4 to 6 weeks.​
